About Dr. Malia

Van Malia, DO, is one of the gifted and compassionate pain management and rehabilitation specialists practicing at Advanced Pain Management in Evans, Georgia. He treats all patients with dignity and respect and offers personalized treatments to reduce their pain.

Dr. Malia earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Iowa. Moving to Columbus, Ohio, during his clinical years in medical school, he rotated through the Ohio State University Medical Center and Ohio University and OhioHealth hospitals. 

Dr. Malia continued his studies by specializing in neurology and anesthesiology before settling on physical medicine and rehabilitation. During his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, he was able to combine his passions for osteopathic medicine, neurology, and interventional pain management with physical medicine to help patients restore their mobility and quality of life. 

With the goal of enhancing his skills in interventional pain management and the imaging and diagnosis of spinal and orthopedic issues, Dr. Malia also completed a prestigious spine and pain fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic

As the son of a Vietnam War veteran and the grandson of a World War II veteran, Dr. Malia has a particular passion for helping veterans recover from injuries and manage pain. He has worked with many Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

Dr. Malia understands the combination of pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injuries, and nerve injuries with which many war veterans live. He aims to serve the men and women who serve the United States with expert care to help lead pain-free fulfilling lives.
